We are pleased to announce that Genevieve (Gen) Schreiber has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Safe Steps, commencing Monday 11 May 2026.

Gen is a highly respected senior executive leader with extensive experience across the family violence, not‑for‑profit, and public sectors. Her career reflects a deep commitment to improving outcomes for victim‑survivors and their families, grounded in both policy expertise and operational leadership.

Gen has held several senior roles in government, including serving as Director, Service Development and Improvement at Family Safety Victoria, where she played a pivotal role in implementing The Orange Door network following the Royal Commission into Family Violence. Her leadership in this work has contributed to strengthening Victoria’s specialist family violence system and enhancing access to coordinated, trauma‑informed support.

Most recently, Gen has been Executive Director, North & West Victoria at Uniting Vic & Tas, where she led a broad portfolio of community services including family violence, children and families’ services, out‑of‑home care, homelessness, mental health, and alcohol and other drugs services.

We look forward to welcoming her to Safe Steps and working together to continue strengthening our services and advocacy for victim‑survivors of family and domestic violence.
