Today (June 15) is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD).

It can be hard to seek support when someone you love is being abusive. Older people often fear they won’t be believed, or worry about what might happen to the person harming them if they report what’s happening.

At safe steps, we will help you to explore your safety options, respecting your choices, no matter your age or situation. Because everyone in our community has the right to live safely, free from abuse, harm and exploitation.

For 24/7 family violence support, call 1800 015 188 or connect with a support worker through live web chat, Monday to Friday from 9am – 9pm. You can also email us at safesteps@safetsteps.org.au and a support worker will reply as soon as possible.
