Help children and young people
Almost half of the people we support are children and young people — help us protect our most vulnerable this winter.
Every night across Victoria, over 100 people rely on Safe Steps for emergency support to flee family and domestic violence.
Almost half of them are children and young people seeking support with a family member. Some of them are escaping on their own.
They often arrive at our crisis accommodation with nothing. No clothes, no toys, no toothbrush. Just fear and uncertainty. Some are too young to understand what’s happening — but all of them need safety, care, and hope.
The need is now growing.
We’re building 29 new crisis accommodation apartments, and we need your help to reach our goal of raising $3.9 million to provide round-the-clock, practical and therapeutic support.
With your donation this end-of-financial-year, you can help create safe, healing spaces for children and young people to recover from family and domestic violence – not just for now, but for years to come.

Heather’s Story
Heather and her three children — aged 16, 12, and 10 — fled with their family dog after repeated assaults from her partner. Safe Steps provided them with safe crisis accommodation, daily essentials, emotional support, and a plan for the future. With time, they moved into a long-term refuge — together, and safe.
Your gift makes this possible.
As the end of the financial year approaches, your donation can change a child or young person’s future
